Subscription infrastructure and a rebuilt reading experience for a regional business title that had given everything away for a decade.
The title had authority and no revenue. Advertising had halved, the site was slow enough on a phone to lose readers, and an earlier paywall had blocked everything and cost a large share of traffic in a month.
Meter what people pay for
We measured which articles readers finished and returned to, metered those, and left the rest open, so the wall sits where the value is.
Reading, not scrolling
A rebuilt article template with real typography, no interstitials, and a page weight a mobile connection can carry.
One place to see it
Subscriptions, retention and article performance in a single view, so the newsroom can see which reporting converts.
Reader revenue covered the advertising shortfall inside a year, and traffic grew despite the paywall because the pages finally rank and load.
